September’s Share the Plate partner, The Store, operates as a year-round free grocery store allowing people to shop for their basic needs. There is no charge to those referred or to the people and agencies that send them. They may shop for food to supplement their income during times of crisis and as they work toward self-sufficiency.

A philosophy of community empowerment means The Store aims to solve hunger issues in our community by developing programs to meet the needs of the community, including partnering with other organizations on issues of food security. The Store believes in cooperation and collaboration between organizations to better serve the community. Over time, The Store will work with partner organizations to help provide cooking and nutrition classes.

Share the Plate is a program that helps us put our money behind our values by supporting organizations whose work is transforming the world. How it works, is each month we select one group, either a community organization or one of our own action teams and then we split the offering plate 50/50  with them each Sunday in that month. In addition to sharing our funds, we invite organizations to speak from our pulpit, provide opportunities for our members to connect with their work, and elevate the organizations on our social platforms. If you know of, work for, or belong to an organization that you feel we should partner with, then we invite you to fill out or Share the Plate Nomination Form to tell us about the great work they are doing and why we should have them for a Share the Plate Partner.
