Between April 5 and April 19, we are transforming our weekly coffee hour into an advocacy hub! The Department of Homeland Security is continuing its assault on immigrants. DHS is now proposing a rule that would make it almost impossible for asylum seekers to get a work permit to and support themselves and their families. As a community committed to the dignity of all people, our voices matter. Join us in the Bartok Room adjoining the Social Hall after the service to submit a quick, 3-minute public comment opposing this change. We will also have Comment Champions circulating in the Social Hall to help you with instructions and answers to your questions. This is more than just signing a petition. These unique, individual comments will slow the government down and cause them to review and address issues raised in the comments. If you’d rather submit one on your own time, please submit your comment using the QR Code below to go directly to the Federal Register comment form for the proposed rule. There’s a UU Work Permit Comment Guide available to help you write your comment. After you make it, please email c61lynnewood@gmail.com so we can keep track - we have a goal of submitting 100 comments before the April 24 deadline—come help us meet and even exceed it!
