UVOTN is organizing a family and kid-friendly protest event on 8/23 from 9:30-11:30am outside the TN State Museum.  That day, Senator Marsha Blackburn is hosting a story time inside to read a book she co-wrote titled "Camilla Can Vote" about women's suffrage:
We think a protest to gather and share the stories of her constituents is called for given her track record as a senator.  She supports the SAVE Act which would make it much harder for women to vote, voted against the Vote for the People Act, has voted against equal pay protections in both the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act and the Paycheck Fairness Act, and voted to support the OBBB that is going to harm so many Tennesseans by cutting funds to Medicaid and SNAP.
At our event, there will be face painting, a sing-a-long, balloons, reading of the children's books banned by area schools and libraries, and a collection of food for the community.
