FUUN Board Meeting Summary
November 19 , 2024

• Updates given on current year goals:
1. Financial Stability – Board leaders and a group of members familiar with the church finances met and started work on the preliminary budget for the 2025/26 year. The Board leaders will meet again in early December.
2. Religious Education- The Children’s Religious Education Committee continues to work diligently. Their effort is sustaining the program, and we are grateful. Attendance is taken and there are typically 20 in the lower grades and 6 youth.
3. Member Engagement- Board leaders are developing a procedure to help congregants and teams make their fellowship and learning ideas a reality. There will be a community conversation to discuss how this will help the membership create opportunities for engagement in their areas of interest.
• There will be a Year End fundraising ask to balance the current year budget. Information about this will be mailed to congregants. Watch for more information in the mail and during the service after Thanksgiving.
• Revisions to the bylaws will be presented for a vote at the mid-year meeting on January 12. The board will recommend removing the current section on and references to the Ministerial Advisory Committees. This will allow the new governance structure based on shared ministry to be presented to Ministerial candidates. Inclusion of the new committee structure in the bylaws will be considered after our new minister arrives.
• There was a request to change the bylaws section stating that members cannot vote until 90 days after they join the church. The board declined to recommend this change to the congregation as it reflects best practices.
• The language and final details of the formal separation letter with Marguerite Mills was approved.
• Chas Sisk, Board Secretary, will serve as the board’s communications liaison.
• The revised Finance Chair Job description was presented by Gary McVety, Treasurer, and approved by the board.
