NOAH TASK FORCE UPDATES NOVEMBER 2024
- Affordable Housing Task Force (AHTF) - The group also reviewed Mayor O’Connell’s answers at the October Public meeting. planned our response especially to the Unified Housing Plan expected to be released by the Division of Housing in the Metro Planning Department
- Transformational Justice Task Force –They expressed concerns about the new surveillance system Metro has that may be able to tap into surveillance systems with permission, Fusus Technology. There is no policy for its use around access and storage of information.
- Economic Equity, Jobs/Transportation Task Force (EEJ/TTF) –They are trying to find new members for the task force and are focused on the Mayor’s advisory committee for the Transit program. EEJ/TTF will concentrate on the implementation of the equity issues, especially the local grocery tax. With the East Bank development, they are focused on vendors and contractors being selected in an equitable way.
- Education Task Force (ETF)– Their Task Force meeting was last night and they selected Pearl Cohen High School to assist getting wrap around services. They will advocate for a Community Achieves person at the school. They discussed possible mentorships for the school with local universities. They have a lot of good information from one on ones with each school board member and celebrated their wins for the year of having two candidate forums and affecting the passing of a policy for public participation at school board meetings.
- IVE (Integrated Voter Engagement) – They commented on the good news that a judge recently ruled that returning citizens do not have to get gun rights before requesting voting rights be restored.
