The Beloved Community Team is honored to be hosting a celebration sponsored by the Indigenous People’s Coalition (IPC) on September 13 at 3 PM in the Social Hall. We will be celebrating the 81st birthday of Indigenous activist, Leonard Peltier, who was the longest incarcerated Native political prisoner in United States history. Leonard was released from prison on February 22, 2025 after being unjustly jailed for 50 years. This will be his first birthday celebration out of prison in a half-century. His birthday is September 12. He is still our hero. He is uncaged and unbroken and still dedicated to Indigenous freedom.

The Indigenous Peoples Coalition (IPC) is sponsoring this celebration in conjunction with Indigenous people across the country. The IPC held a celebration of Leonard’s release at First UU Church of Nashville this past February.
