Are you disturbed by the removal of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion policies in many workplaces? Are you shocked at the removal of rights and kidnapping of our immigrant friends? Do you ever feel guilty for not being in more diverse settings, want to work on social justice, but feel ill-prepared? Unitarian Universalists see so many inequities and want to make the world a better place, a beloved community. We need to intentionally work on how to do this.
The Beloved Community Team operates at FUUN to help with this. We have offered a curriculum developed by the UU Church of Richmond Virginia, called Living the Pledge to End Racism six times in the past and had over 100 participants. We will offer the program again starting in Feb. There are six sessions on five dates, Feb. 8, 22, Mar.22, April 12. 26 at noon. The modules examine individual racism, such as bias and microaggressions, and institutional racism by examining our difficult history and how it has affected the disparities still to this day. We will also learn about reactions such as the Black Lives Matter movement and how we can make a difference by our own personal pledge to end racism.
The workshops offer information and sharing in large and small group settings. The small groups are the strength of the program because you can go deeper in a safe and supported setting. You need this program if you are involved with social justice work, and you need it even more if you are not! Join us and help us create a beloved community. Register below today!
